A pharmacy opportunity is available for a licensed Pharmacist skilled in long-term care and retail pharmacy operations. This position offers the potential for contract to hire based on performance during an initial 13-week contract. The role is located near Ayden, NC, approximately two hours east of Raleigh, providing a dynamic work environment in a healthcare setting focused on patient safety and medication management.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Rotating Saturdays

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor patient medication adherence and detect patterns of overuse.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements for medication supply.
  • Verify suitability of medicines prescribed to patients.
  • Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision.
  • Counsel patients on medication usage, possible side effects, and answer related questions.
  • Provide consultations on prescription and non-prescription drugs including dosage, storage, and potential interactions.
  • Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients regarding the usage and maintenance of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following regulatory procedures.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
  • Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory.
  • Identify and communicate drug-related problems to healthcare practitioners.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacy interns, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications:

  • Current NC Pharmacist license required.
  • Experience in retail pharmacy is valued; candidates open to training will be considered.
  • Strong communication and supervisory skills.
  • Commitment to patient-focused care and compliance with healthcare laws and regulations.
