A pharmacy opportunity is available for a licensed pharmacist with an active Arkansas license to support long-term care medication management. This 13-week contract position offers the potential to transition into a permanent role based on performance.
Location: Bella Vista, AR (approximately 30 minutes north of Fayetteville)
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Rotating weekends every 3 weeks
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept, verify, and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify overuse or potential issues
- Ensure medication supplies conform to legal and regulatory standards
- Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation with precision
- Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, drug interactions, and proper device handling
- Provide patient services including smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management
- Compound medications for internal and external use; prepare sterile solutions following proper protocols
- Supervise pharmacy personnel such as technicians and clerks to maintain a high standard of service
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and pharmacy interns, to optimize patient care
- Identify and communicate drug-related problems to the healthcare team
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Active Arkansas Pharmacist license required
- Retail pharmacists willing to transition and train for long-term care are encouraged to apply
- Ability to perform PV1 and PV2 duties and handle some IV preparation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient counseling and team collaboration
