A pharmacy operation in Bentonville, AR is seeking a licensed pharmacist for a 13-week contract position with potential to convert to permanent employment based on performance. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in long-term care pharmacy services, with a focus on patient safety and medication management.
Location:
- Bentonville, AR (approximately 30 minutes north of Fayetteville)
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Rotating weekends every 3 weeks
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and securely
- Monitor patient medication usage for compliance and prevent overuse
- Ensure medication supply management complies with legal regulations
- Advise patients on proper medication use, potential side effects, and respond to their queries
- Provide counseling on both prescription and over-the-counter medications, including dosages, storage, and drug interactions
- Offer additional patient services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure and cholesterol monitoring
- Educate patients on the operation of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks
- Maintain pharmacy inventory and timely restocking
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related problems
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Current pharmacist license valid in Arkansas
- Open to retail pharmacists willing to train for long-term care pharmacy
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files
- Experience with sterile compounding and pharmacy supervision is a plus
