Retail Staff Pharmacist | Bronx, New York

A specialty pharmacy is seeking two experienced pharmacists for a contract role in Bronx, NY, focused on managing rare and orphan drugs for patients with rare diseases. This role requires in-depth expertise in specialty pharmacy operations, including navigating complex drug approval processes and patient assistance programs. The position offers an opportunity to work closely with both patients and healthcare providers, delivering high-touch communication and clinical support.

Location:

• Bronx, NY

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, daytime shifts

Key Responsibilities:

• Dispense and manage specialty medications, primarily rare/orphan drugs
• Facilitate communication between patients, providers, and payers to ensure timely drug approval and delivery
• Assist patients with understanding and accessing payment assistance, grants, rebates, and other cost-related programs
• Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system for specialty pharmacy tasks
• Provide clinical consultation and support tailored to patient needs

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Proven experience working exclusively in a designated specialty pharmacy setting (retail pharmacy experience without specialty pharmacy background not considered)
• Experience with specialty retail and/or specialty mail order pharmacy is preferred
• Strong clinical knowledge and excellent communication skills to effectively engage with patients and providers
• Familiarity with rare/orphan drug therapies and associated patient management challenges
• Active pharmacy license in Arizona, clear and in good standing
