A specialty pharmacy is seeking two experienced Specialty Pharmacists to join their team supporting patients with rare and orphan diseases. This contract opportunity, with a possible transition to direct hire, offers a chance to work in a focused specialty pharmacy environment dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities:
- Dispense and manage rare and orphan drugs with attention to accuracy and safety
- Facilitate high-touch communication between patients, healthcare providers, and payers to navigate medication access challenges
- Assist patients and providers with complex authorization processes, including payment programs, grants, and rebates
- Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize therapeutic outcomes for patients with rare diseases
- Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) specialty pharmacy system for documentation and workflow management
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Proven background in a designated specialty pharmacy setting (retail or mail order) is essential; retail pharmacists without specialty pharmacy experience will not be considered
- Strong clinical knowledge of rare disease therapeutics and related patient support programs
- Excellent communication skills to manage patient/provider interactions effectively
- Active pharmacist license in good standing
- Experience with specialty pharmacy software such as McKesson ERx is preferred
