A growing pediatric hospital is seeking a dedicated acute care pharmacist to support inpatient pharmacy services at a 336-bed facility, recognized as the only pediatric Level 1 trauma center in the state. This role offers an excellent opportunity to enhance clinical expertise in pediatric pharmacotherapy while working in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.
Location:
- Cabot, AR
Schedule:
- 7 days on, 7 days off rotation
- Thursday to Saturday: 7 AM – 7 PM
- Sunday to Wednesday: 8 PM – 7 AM
- Flexible scheduling options available to accommodate preferences
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify appropriate dosing considering patient diagnosis, weight, age, and body surface area
- Identify and intervene in drug therapy issues such as allergies, interactions, and adverse reactions
- Initiate or recommend drug therapy, including cost-effective alternatives
- Evaluate and approve non-formulary drug use
- Ensure accurate dispensing regarding dose, route, and regimen with proper labeling
- Manage medication orders efficiently and prioritize tasks for timely processing
- Monitor patient outcomes and collaborate with healthcare providers on therapeutic plans
- Provide education to patients, pharmacy staff, and healthcare students
- Perform drug information services and drug utilization review activities
- Manage medication inventory, ordering, substitutions, and communication with suppliers
- Support departmental processes including loan/borrow coordination and inventory management
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Arkansas pharmacist license or willingness to obtain one
- Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) preferred
- Experience in an inpatient setting, ideally pediatric acute care
- Comfortable working night shifts and rotating schedules
