An opportunity is available for a licensed Pharmacist to support a 9-week contract assignment in Cheney, WA, beginning August 3. This role offers a mix of day and evening shifts Monday through Friday, with possible weekend rotations. This position welcomes travel pharmacists and provides hands-on experience in both PV1 and PV2 pharmacy duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal requirements.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and identify patterns of overuse.
- Ensure prescribed medications are appropriate and safely administered.
- Maintain accurate, confidential patient and pharmacy records.
- Provide detailed counseling to patients on medication use, potential side effects, and answer questions.
- Offer consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including dosage, storage, and drug interactions.
- Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on the correct use of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.
- Compound medications for internal or external use and prepare sterile solutions in accordance with protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks.
- Manage inventory of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies efficiently.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacy interns, and other healthcare providers to address drug-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Current Washington State pharmacist license required.
- Retail pharmacy experience is appreciated; training will be provided for retail pharmacists new to clinical settings.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
