An opportunity is available for an experienced inpatient pharmacist to support pharmacy operations in a hospital setting located in Chesapeake, VA. This contract assignment begins on Tuesday, May 26, and spans 13 weeks, offering diverse shift options including rotating day, evening, and overnight schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify and process medication orders accurately to ensure patient safety.
  • Manage IV therapies including pain-controlled analgesia and antibiotic administration.
  • Utilize knowledge of drug interactions and maintain precise order entry.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams on anticoagulant management, chemotherapy, pharmacokinetic, and renal dosing protocols as applicable.
  • Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic medical record system.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Virginia pharmacist license held at time of application submission—this is non-negotiable.
  • Minimum of 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience required; prior travel pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Proficient in EPIC charting system to efficiently manage patient records.
  • Demonstrated expertise in IV medications, pain control, antibiotic therapies, and drug interaction monitoring.
  • Familiarity with chemotherapy protocols, anticoagulation therapy, and pharmacokinetic/renal dosing methods is advantageous.

Shift Scheduling Details:

  • Rotating shifts with multiple options:
    • Day: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
    • Evening: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
    • Overnight: 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM, 8:30 PM – 7:30 AM
