A specialty retail pharmacy is seeking a Per Diem Staff Pharmacist experienced in managing complex medication regimens for patients with chronic, advanced disease states. This role is ideal for a pharmacist with strong retail and specialty pharmacy experience who is passionate about patient-centered care and skilled in detailed medication consultation.
Location: Cleveland, OH (with shifts at an affiliated location in Columbus, OH)
Schedule:
- Tuesday, 2/3, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Thursday, 2/5, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Tuesday, 2/10, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Thursday, 2/12, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday, 2/13, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive pharmacy services to patients typically taking 8-15 medications daily.
- Conduct thorough consultations with patients managing chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with Medicare/Medicaid and low-income patients, many with low literacy, ensuring clear understanding of medication therapies.
- Utilize Pioneer Rx software for prescription processing and patient record management.
- Uphold the pharmacy’s commitment to prioritizing patient care and medication therapy management over volume.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Proven experience in retail and/or specialty pharmacy settings.
- In-depth knowledge of the top 200-400 medications commonly dispensed in retail pharmacy.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and consult on complex disease states confidently.
- Excellent communication, patient counseling, and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and compassion in working with diverse patient populations, especially those with low health literacy.
- Specialty retail pharmacy experience is highly preferred.
