Long Term Care Staff Pharmacist - Clovis, CA

A healthcare facility in Clovis, CA is seeking two dedicated pharmacists for a 12-week contract assignment, with the possibility to transition to permanent roles. This opportunity focuses on providing critical pharmacy services within a Long Term Care setting (PV1 and PV2 units). The position starts ASAP and offers a Monday to Friday schedule from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., with no weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately.
• Monitor patient medication compliance and identify over-usage patterns.
• Ensure all medication supplies comply with legal requirements.
• Verify the suitability of prescribed medicines for patients.
• Maintain detailed and confidential patient and pharmacy records.
• Advise patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer queries.
• Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage, dosage, and drug interactions.
• Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation counseling, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
• Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications for internal and external use, including preparation of sterile solutions.
• Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technicians and clerks.
• Manage inventories of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and other healthcare professionals to address drug-related issues.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid California pharmacist license.
• Previous experience in retail pharmacy is welcomed; training provided for candidates transitioning from retail.
• Strong communication and supervisory skills.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to patient safety and compliance.
