Per Diem Staff Pharmacist | Columbus, Ohio

A specialized retail pharmacy is seeking a Per Diem Pharmacist to support their Columbus, OH location. This role is ideal for pharmacists with strong retail and specialty pharmacy experience who excel in managing complex medication therapies for patients with chronic and advanced disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.

The pharmacy focuses on providing comprehensive care to complex patients, each typically managing 8-15 daily medications. The patient population primarily includes Medicare/Medicaid recipients and low-income individuals, often with low literacy levels. Compassion, patience, and excellent communication and consultation skills are essential to effectively support these patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert consultation to patients on complex medication regimens
• Utilize strong disease state management knowledge to ensure optimal therapy outcomes
• Communicate clearly and patiently with patients who may have low health literacy
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to support patient-centered care
• Use Pioneer Rx software for prescription processing and documentation

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Strong retail and/or specialty pharmacy background highly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to counsel patients with chronic and advanced illnesses
• Proficiency in managing multiple medications and understanding the top 200–400 retail drugs
• Excellent communication and consultation skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care
• Experience working with Medicare/Medicaid and underserved populations
