A per diem pharmacist opportunity is available in Columbus, OH, supporting a specialty retail pharmacy focused on complex patient care. This role emphasizes patient consultation and medication management for individuals typically taking 8 to 15 medications daily. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in retail and specialty pharmacy settings, strong communication skills, and the patience needed to work effectively with low-literacy patient populations, including Medicare/Medicaid and low-income individuals.

Schedule:

  • Tuesday, 2/3: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Thursday, 2/5: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Tuesday, 2/10: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Thursday, 2/12: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Friday, 2/13: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive consultation and education to patients with chronic, advanced disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.
  • Manage complex medication therapies, ensuring safety and efficacy in line with patient-specific needs.
  • Utilize Pioneer Rx software to accurately document and manage patient information and medication profiles.
  • Demonstrate compassion and patience to effectively communicate with patients who may have low literacy levels.
  • Focus on individualized patient care rather than prescription volume, practicing thorough medication reviews and counseling.

Desired Experience:

  • Strong retail and/or specialty pharmacy background.
  • Proficient knowledge of the top 200-400 medications commonly dispensed in retail settings.
  • Expertise in disease state management and patient consultation, particularly for chronic and complex conditions.
  • Experience working with Medicare/Medicaid populations is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
