Per Diem Staff Pharmacist - Columbus, OH

A per diem pharmacist opportunity is available at a specialty retail pharmacy focused on serving complex patients managing multiple medications daily. This role requires a pharmacist with strong consultation skills, patience, and expertise in handling chronic and advanced disease states. The patient population primarily consists of Medicare/Medicaid and low-income individuals, many with low literacy levels, necessitating compassionate and clear communication.

• Tuesday 2/3: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
• Thursday 2/5: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
• Tuesday 2/10: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
• Thursday 2/12: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
• Friday 2/13: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive medication consultation and management for patients taking complex regimens (8–15 medications daily).
• Engage with patients compassionately to educate on medication use and disease states.
• Utilize Pioneer Rx software to manage prescriptions and patient information effectively.
• Support disease state management for chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.
• Collaborate to ensure patient-centered care focused on medication adherence and safety.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

• Strong retail pharmacy background with specialty pharmacy experience highly preferred.
• Proven ability to consult confidently with patients managing chronic and advanced diseases.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills tailored to a diverse patient population.
• Patience and empathy when addressing patients with low literacy and complex needs.
• Familiarity with the top 200–400 medications commonly dispensed in retail settings.
