A pharmacy professional opportunity is available for a staff pharmacist specializing in hospital inpatient care. This contract role supports pharmaceutical care by managing the medication process for patients ranging from pediatric to adult populations, ensuring safe and effective medication use aligned with institutional standards.
Location: Conroe, TX
Contract Duration: 13 weeks, starting 9/21
Shift: Days, 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), with rotating weekends
EMR System: EPIC
Responsibilities
- Promote pharmaceutical care by managing medication processes and identifying/preventing drug-related problems.
- Ensure medication doses are appropriate concerning diagnosis, patient weight/body surface area, allergies, and drug interactions.
- Accurately enter medication orders into the computer system with zero medication incidents.
- Verify medications dispensed are correct, maintaining a record free of dispensing errors.
- Process medication orders and deliver doses within established guidelines, demonstrated by peer reviews and minimal incidents.
- Adhere to aseptic technique and infection control standards in preparing sterile products, enforcing these practices among pharmacy staff.
- Maintain required certifications and complete annual re-certification exams with a 90% pass rate or higher.
Qualifications
- Active Texas pharmacist license.
- ACPE IV Certification required.
- Minimum 2+ years of recent inpatient pharmacy experience, preferably with pediatric exposure (pediatric experience is preferred but not mandatory).
- Proficient with EPIC or similar electronic medical record systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and regulatory compliance.
