A pharmacy opportunity is available for a Staff Pharmacist to support a well-established healthcare provider in Denver, CO. This 13-week contract position offers the potential to convert to permanent employment based on performance. The role requires flexibility with shifts, including days and evenings (start times as early as 7 a.m. and end times up to 11 p.m.), along with rotating weekends.
Responsibilities include:
- Accepting and dispensing prescription medications accurately
- Monitoring patient medication compliance and preventing overuse
- Ensuring medication supplies comply with legal regulations
- Verifying suitability of prescribed medicines for each patient
- Maintaining confidential patient records and pharmacy files meticulously
- Advising patients on medication usage, possible reactions, and answering questions
- Consulting on prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs, covering dosage, side effects, and interactions
- Offering patient services such as smoking cessation assistance, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management
- Educating patients on medical device handling like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
- Compounding medications and preparing sterile solutions in accordance with protocols
- Supervising pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks
- Managing inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- Identifying and communicating drug-related problems to healthcare providers
- Collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, interns, and fellow pharmacists
Qualifications:
- Valid Colorado Pharmacist license in hand
- Willingness to accept retail pharmacists and provide training if necessary
- Ability to work flexible scheduled shifts, including weekends
