A pharmacy position is available for a staff pharmacist in the Denver, CO area for a 13-week contract with potential for contract-to-hire based on performance. This role requires flexibility to work day and evening shifts, including rotating weekends, with hours starting as early as 7 AM and ending as late as 11 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify patterns of over-usage
- Ensure all medicines supplied comply with legal regulations
- Verify prescribed medications are appropriate for patients
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy files
- Provide expert advice to patients on medication usage, possible reactions, and answer related questions
- Offer additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure measurements, and cholesterol management
- Educate patients on the correct use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following established procedures
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure smooth operations
- Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related issues
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Colorado pharmacist license required
- Retail pharmacists with a willingness to learn and grow will be considered and trained
- Experience with prescription verification (PV1 and PV2) preferred
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
