A well-established retail pharmacy network in Iowa is seeking a full-time Floating Retail Pharmacist for a 13-week assignment beginning July 13. This contract role offers the opportunity to work across multiple locations, providing essential pharmaceutical services in both busy and rural settings. The pharmacist will be based primarily in Dubuque, with travel to nearby sites including Preston, Bellevue, Independence, and Monticello.

Schedule and Hours:

  • Monday through Friday, 1st shift
  • Occasional half-day Saturdays as needed
  • Shift options: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm or 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Core Responsibilities:

  • Dispense medications accurately under the direct supervision of the pharmacy manager
  • Counsel and advise patients on their prescriptions and medication regimens, ensuring clear communication and adherence
  • Address patient inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally, following organizational protocols
  • Maintain controlled substance records and inventories with meticulous attention to legal standards
  • Resolve issues related to third-party insurance and patient medication access
  • Adapt to script volumes ranging from 600 daily in rural sites up to 3,000 in the busiest location

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active and clear pharmacist license in Iowa is mandatory
  • Minimum of 1 year retail pharmacy experience, preferably in a high-volume environment
  • Proficiency with Mckesson Enterprise pharmacy software or similar systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills to handle diverse patient populations
  • Ability and willingness to travel between multiple pharmacy locations within a reasonable radius of Dubuque
