An opportunity is available for two experienced Specialty Pharmacists to support a leading specialty pharmacy focusing on rare and orphan drugs for patients with rare diseases. This role demands pharmacists with specific expertise in specialty pharmacy settings, where they assist patients and healthcare providers through complex approval and financial assistance processes.
Location: Glendale, AZ
Contract Duration: 13 weeks, with potential for direct hire
Shift: Monday to Friday, daytime hours
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the dispensing and clinical oversight of rare and orphan drugs, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Provide detailed patient and provider education regarding specialty medications, usage, and management.
- Navigate and facilitate drug approval processes, including prior authorizations and insurance communications.
- Assist with patient access programs, including grants, rebates, and financial assistance to optimize treatment affordability.
- Maintain high-touch communication with patients and providers, ensuring personalized support throughout therapy.
Desired Experience:
- Proven experience working specifically within a designated specialty pharmacy environment (retail experience alone is not sufficient).
- Strong clinical knowledge of specialty medications and rare diseases.
- Skilled in patient communication and provider collaboration to manage complex therapy regimens.
- Expertise in navigating insurance authorization, reimbursement challenges, and financial support programs.
