A healthcare facility in Glenwood Springs, CO, is seeking a skilled pharmacist for a 20-week travel assignment starting May 5th. This role requires expertise in medication preparation, dispensing, and clinical consultation within a rotating shift schedule. The pharmacist will contribute to safe, cost-effective medication therapy while supporting the transition from Meditech to Epic EMR systems.
Location: Glenwood Springs, CO
Assignment Duration: Approximately 20 weeks, ending around August 15, 2026
Schedule:
- Rotating shifts, 40 hours per week
- Start times at 6:30 AM or 8:00 AM, Monday to Friday
- Rotating weekends from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense medication orders accurately according to physician requests
- Maintain medication inventory in patient care areas
- Interpret and transcribe medication orders into computerized profiles
- Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, especially regarding controlled substances
- Monitor drug therapies for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and dosing accuracy
- Review culture and sensitivity data to recommend antibiotic therapy adjustments
- Provide clinical consultation, drug information, and cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff
- Document all clinical activities and participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Engage in staff training and participate as a member of the Code Response Team
Qualifications:
- Active Colorado Pharmacist License in good standing
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy degree
- BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Must have flu vaccine (no exemptions accepted from October 1 through April 1)
- Epic experience is mandatory
- Meditech experience is a plus since the facility is transitioning systems
