This opportunity offers a dynamic role as a Staff Pharmacist on the 2nd shift (12:30pm - 9pm) in a closed-door mail order environment. The position begins with a 13-week contract and has the potential to transition to direct hire. The pharmacist will play a key role in supervising pharmacy technicians during the shift while delivering exceptional pharmaceutical care and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The role is Monday through Friday with possible Saturdays based on need.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately dispense medications in accordance with prescription orders.
- Provide comprehensive medication counseling and education to patients regarding proper use, side effects, and interactions.
- Review and interpret physician orders to confirm accuracy and appropriateness.
- Monitor drug therapy for contraindications, interactions, and duplications.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes and promote adherence.
- Maintain meticulous patient records including medication histories and allergies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy laws.
- Oversee proper medication storage, monitoring for expired or damaged products.
- Participate in pharmacy quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with inventory management including ordering and stocking.
- Deliver outstanding customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving concerns.
- Stay updated with pharmacy practice developments and pursue ongoing professional growth.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- PharmD degree required.
- 1 to 3 years of retail pharmacy experience.
- Indiana Pharmacy License required.
- California Pharmacy License preferred or willingness to reciprocate (support for costs provided).
- Strong supervisory skills for managing technicians.
- Excellent communication and collaborative abilities.
- Willingness to travel up to 5%.
