Per Diem Staff Pharmacist in Gretna, LA

Per Diem opportunity in retail pharmacy focusing on complex patient care. This position involves supporting patients who manage 8-15 medications daily, requiring exceptional consultation skills and a thorough knowledge of commonly dispensed medications.

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert medication counseling to patients with chronic and advanced disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.
• Demonstrate patience and compassion when interacting with Medicare/Medicaid and low-income patients, many of whom may have low literacy levels.
• Utilize strong disease state management skills to optimize therapeutic outcomes.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure holistic patient care.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the top 200-400 drugs commonly encountered in retail pharmacy settings.
• Support the pharmacy’s mission focused on quality patient care rather than prescription volume.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Proven retail or specialty pharmacy experience, with a preference for candidates who have worked in specialty settings.
• Expertise in counseling patients with complex medication regimens involving multiple chronic conditions.
• Exceptional communication and consultation abilities to effectively engage patients who need additional support.
• Strong understanding of disease state management, particularly in chronic diseases.
