Staff Pharmacist in Hanford, CA

A pharmacist role is available for a contract-to-hire opportunity beginning ASAP, located in Hanford, CA. This position operates Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with no weekend shifts.

Responsibilities include accurately accepting and dispensing prescription medications while monitoring patient compliance and identifying patterns of overuse. The pharmacist ensures that all medications supplied comply with legal regulations and are appropriate for patient needs. Maintaining confidential and precise patient records is essential, along with advising patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and addressing their questions.

The role also provides consultations on both prescription and over-the-counter medications, covering storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions. Additional patient services include smoking cessation support, blood pressure and cholesterol management, and instruction on proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters. Compounding medications, preparing sterile solutions, and supervising pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks, are key duties.

Inventory management of pharmaceutical and medical supplies is required, as well as identifying drug-related problems and collaborating effectively with healthcare practitioners such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid California pharmacist license required
• Retail pharmacists are welcome; training will be provided as needed
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and healthcare teams
• Ability to supervise pharmacy staff members
