An infusion clinical pharmacist is needed for a focused 4-week maternity leave assignment at a specialty infusion pharmacy located approximately 20 minutes north of downtown Hartford, CT. This role is ideal for pharmacists with infusion and specialty medication expertise who excel in clinical judgment and pharmacy regulatory compliance.

Position Details:

  • Contract duration: March 13 to April 13
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Location: Enfield, CT (near Hartford)

Role Overview: The pharmacist will ensure safe, compliant, and efficient pharmacy operations within the specialty infusion pharmacy environment. Responsibilities include reviewing and verifying prescriptions, monitoring specialty drug therapies, providing patient counseling, overseeing pharmacy technician activities, and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. Collaboration with clinical, nursing, reimbursement, and quality teams supports optimal patient outcomes in specialty disease management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify accuracy and appropriateness of specialty prescriptions
  • Monitor drug therapies and recommend clinical interventions
  • Provide thorough counseling to patients on specialty medications
  • Supervise pharmacy technician workflow and documentation
  • Maintain adherence to regulatory standards including FDA, DEA, HIPAA, ACHC, URAC, and OSHA
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams
  • Support the full prescription fulfillment process and patient onboarding
  • Participate in on-call rotations as required
  • Ensure licensure and certifications are current

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited program
  • Active, unrestricted Connecticut Pharmacist license (in-hand)
  • Strong understanding of specialty therapies and patient qualification processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years pharmacy experience in specialty, infusion, hospital, retail, or mail-order settings
  • Experience collaborating with pharmacy technicians and clinical teams
  • Familiarity with specialty payer contracts and operational requirements
  • Experience with CareTend system
  • Certification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
