This per diem Staff Pharmacist position offers an opportunity to provide essential pharmacy services within a behavioral health setting. The role requires strong inpatient hospital pharmacy experience and familiarity with automated dispensing systems such as Omnicell or Pyxis. North Carolina pharmacist licensure is mandatory.

Location:
Winston-Salem, NC

Schedule:

  • Training: May 5-8 and May 11-15, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Coverage:
    • May 16-17, 7:30 AM – 2:30 PM
    • May 30-31, 7:30 AM – 2:30 PM
    • June and beyond: Dates TBD
  • Coverage hours: Weekdays 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM; weekends 7:30 AM – 2:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify medication orders and collaborate closely with nursing staff and providers.
  • Perform product verification and manage Omnicell system utilization.
  • Engage in antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.
  • Work in partnership with the Director of Pharmacy and pharmacy team to meet patient care needs.
  • Support pharmacy technicians in medication filling, repackaging, and distribution activities.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • Active North Carolina pharmacist license required.
  • Experience in inpatient hospital pharmacy practice.
  • Knowledge of Omnicell or Pyxis automated dispensing systems preferred.
  • Behavioral health knowledge is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency with HCS order entry system is not required as training will be provided.

Additional Information:

  • Dress code: Black or sage green scrubs or business casual attire.
  • Supportive pharmacy team consisting of 1 Director of Pharmacy, part-time and per diem pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians.
