A healthcare facility in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking an as-needed Staff Pharmacist to support their pharmacy team. This per diem position provides flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to inpatient behavioral health pharmacy services. Training is required and provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify medication orders and ensure accuracy of product dispensing
  • Collaborate closely with nursing staff and healthcare providers for optimal patient care
  • Utilize Omnicell automation system for medication management (experience preferred)
  • Participate in antimicrobial stewardship initiatives
  • Work alongside the Director of Pharmacy and pharmacy team to meet patient needs
  • Support technician activities including filling, repackaging, and distribution

Qualifications:

  • Current pharmacist license in North Carolina
  • Experience working in inpatient hospital settings
  • Familiarity with Omnicell or Pyxis automation systems is preferred
  • Knowledge of behavioral health pharmacy practices highly desirable
  • Willingness to train on the HCS order entry system

Schedule & Training:

  • Training begins early May with 5 days of full-day sessions (7:30 am – 4:30 pm) between May 5–8 and May 11–15
  • Coverage shifts include:
    • May 16–17, 7:30 am – 2:30 pm
    • May 30–31, 7:30 am – 2:30 pm
    • Future June dates to be determined
  • Coverage hours typically 7:30 am – 4:30 pm weekdays and 7:30 am – 2:30 pm on weekends

Additional Information:

  • Dress code options include black or sage green scrubs or business casual attire
  • Work within a small pharmacy team including a Director of Pharmacy, full-time and per diem pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians
