A hospital-owned retail pharmacy is seeking a Staff Pharmacist for a 12-week medical leave coverage assignment starting 9/8. This role is based in a busy community-focused setting that combines traditional pharmacy services with a welcoming gift shop and coffee shop environment.
The position requires 20 hours per week, ideally on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with a 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM shift including a 30-minute lunch. While those days are preferred, some scheduling flexibility is possible. The pharmacy processes around 4,000 prescriptions monthly and uses Pioneer RX software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct pharmacy technicians and staff pharmacists
- Verify and dispense medications ensuring safety and accuracy
- Manage inventory, medication stock, and maintain formulary compliance
- Handle controlled substance documentation and compliance
- Administer and oversee the 340B program compliance
- Manage pharmacy billing, claims submission, and reconciliation
- Utilize and maintain electronic health and pharmacy record accuracy (training provided)
- Support workflow optimization and quality improvement initiatives
- Administer immunizations
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active and clear West Virginia pharmacist license
- Experience with Pioneer RX preferred
- Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy; PharmD preferred but not required
- Current CPR certification and active immunization certification
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
