This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care in a closed-door mail order pharmacy environment during the 2nd shift (12:30pm - 9pm), Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed. This is a contract position lasting 13 weeks or longer, with potential for temp-to-direct hire.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately dispense medications according to prescription orders while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Provide medication counseling and education to patients, addressing proper usage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Review and interpret physician orders to verify appropriateness of therapy.
- Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, interactions, and duplications.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians during the 2nd shift to ensure efficient workflow.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes and encourage medication adherence.
- Maintain precise patient records, including medication histories and interventions.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking pharmaceutical supplies.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving pharmacy-related issues.
- Keep up-to-date with pharmacy practice developments through ongoing professional growth.
Qualifications:
- PharmD degree required.
- Licensed pharmacist in Indiana; California license preferred or willingness to reciprocate (assistance provided for costs).
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years’ retail pharmacy experience.
- Strong supervisory skills and ability to lead pharmacy technician staff.
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 5%.
