A healthcare facility in Irving, TX is seeking two dedicated Pharmacists for a 9-week contract with potential transition to permanent employment based on performance. This role offers the opportunity to apply pharmacy expertise in a fast-paced long-term care setting while working closely with healthcare teams to optimize patient care.
Schedule/Hours:
- Monday through Friday
- Shifts available: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM and/or 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Rotating weekends
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and compliantly
- Monitor patient medication adherence and identify over-usage patterns
- Ensure legal compliance in medication supply and suitability for patients
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy documentation
- Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, storage, and drug interactions
- Provide clinical services including smoking cessation, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management
- Educate patients on proper use of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions according to established protocols
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and clerks to ensure smooth pharmacy operations
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve drug-related issues
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Valid Texas Pharmacist license (in-hand) required
- Prior experience in retail pharmacy is acceptable; on-the-job training provided
- Strong communication skills for patient counseling and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to manage clinical and administrative pharmacy duties effectively
