Staff Pharmacist | Durham, North Carolina

A healthcare facility in Durham, NC is seeking a skilled Staff Pharmacist with IV certification for a 17-week contract position with potential to convert to full-time.

Schedule/Hours:

• Flexible Monday to Friday shifts: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM, or 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
• Weekend on-call rotation

Responsibilities:

• Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately
• Monitor patient medication compliance and identify over-usage
• Ensure medication supply and prescriptions comply with legal requirements
• Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision
• Advise patients regarding medication use, side effects, and drug interactions
• Compound sterile medications following established protocols
• Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceutical and medical supplies
• Identify drug-related patient issues and collaborate with healthcare providers
• Oversee sterile compounding areas, ensuring cleanliness and compliance
• Ensure staff competency in sterile compounding procedures, including training and testing
• Work collaboratively to maintain compliance with USP 797 and USP 800 standards

Qualifications:

• Active North Carolina pharmacist license required
• IV/Infusion pharmacy experience highly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
• Excellent communication skills for patient counseling and interdisciplinary collaboration
