This direct hire opportunity seeks an experienced infusion/clinical pharmacist to support home infusion therapy in the Kansas City area. The role focuses on preparing, dispensing, and monitoring complex intravenous (IV) and subcutaneous medications while acting as a clinical resource for patients and multidisciplinary teams.
Location: Kansas City, KS
Schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Friday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Participate in on-call rotation (approximately fewer than 5 after-hours calls weekly)
Core Responsibilities:
- Prepare specialty pharmaceuticals and IV solutions under sterile, ventilated conditions according to federal and state regulations.
- Monitor clinical parameters including lab values, pharmacokinetic dosing (e.g., vancomycin), and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), adjusting therapies as needed.
- Provide patient and caregiver education on infusion techniques, pump usage, and catheter care to ensure safe home administration.
- Collaborate with prescribing physicians, home health nurses, and internal teams to coordinate care, optimize treatment outcomes, and minimize hospital readmissions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards such as HIPAA, FDA, DEA, Medicare, OSHA, and others.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including refrigerated items, and coordinate the safe, timely shipping of medications to patients.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in infusion specialty pharmacy.
- IVIg experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of specialty therapy payer requirements, reimbursement processes, and contractual obligations.
- Current and good standing pharmacist license in Kansas; additional licenses from CA, ID, IL, KY, MA, MD, MI, NV, OR, OK, TN, TX are highly preferred due to regional delivery.
- Experience with the CareTend system preferred.
