A pharmacy in New Hyde Park, NY is seeking two qualified Pharmacists for a 13-week contract with the possibility of contract-to-hire based on performance. This role offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with an immediate start date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately.
- Monitor patient medication compliance and detect over-usage patterns.
- Ensure the supply and prescription of medicines comply with legal regulations.
- Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files meticulously.
- Advise patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer questions.
- Provide consultations on prescription and non-prescription medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications for internal or external use and prepare sterile solutions following established procedures.
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technicians and clerks.
- Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventories.
- Identify drug-related problems and communicate effectively with healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns to optimize patient care.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
- Active New York state pharmacy license in hand.
- Prior IV experience is mandatory.
- Home infusion pharmacy experience preferred.
- IV certification required.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
