Home Infusion Staff Pharmacist | Staten Island, New York

A reputable infusion pharmacy is seeking two skilled pharmacists for a 13-week contract opportunity with potential for contract-to-hire based on performance. This role involves providing expert pharmaceutical care and support in a home infusion setting, ensuring safe and effective medication management for patients.

Location: Staten Island, NY (with work based out of New Hyde Park, NY infusion pharmacy)

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday
• 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications
• Monitor patient medication compliance and usage patterns to safeguard health
• Maintain legal and safe supply levels of medicines
• Ensure prescribed medications are appropriate for patients
• Manage and maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files
• Offer thorough medication counseling, including dosage, side effects, and drug interactions
• Provide patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management education
• Educate patients on proper usage of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
• Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols
• Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure smooth operations
• Collaborate with healthcare providers including physicians, nurses, and pharmacists to address patient drug-related problems effectively

Qualifications and Experience:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required
• Active New York state pharmacy license in-hand
• Previous IV pharmacy experience is mandatory
• Strong knowledge of home infusion practices preferred
