A healthcare facility in Staten Island, NY is seeking two experienced pharmacists for a 13-week contract with potential for contract-to-hire based on performance. This opportunity requires candidates with IV certification and home infusion experience, holding a valid New York state pharmacy license.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications while ensuring compliance with legal and safety standards.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and identify over-usage patterns.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and pharmacy files.
- Provide patient consultations on medication usage, potential side effects, drug interactions, and storage.
- Offer additional patient services, including smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on medical device usage such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
- Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventories.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related patient issues.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
- Active New York state pharmacy license.
- Prior experience working with intravenous (IV) medications.
- Proficiency in home infusion pharmacy services.
- Strong leadership skills for supervising pharmacy staff.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and collaboration with healthcare teams.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
