Retail Staff Pharmacist | Jamaica, New York

A specialty pharmacy is seeking experienced pharmacists to support patients with rare and orphan diseases through specialized medication management. This role requires extensive knowledge of specialty pharmacy operations and a strong patient-provider communication approach to address the complexities of rare drug therapies, approvals, and financial assistance programs.

Location:

• Bronx, NY

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, daytime hours

Responsibilities:

• Dispense and manage high-cost, rare, and orphan drugs with precision and care
• Collaborate closely with healthcare providers and patients to facilitate approval processes and ensure timely access to medications
• Assist patients with navigating financial assistance programs, including grants, rebates, and other support options
• Utilize specialty pharmacy systems such as McKesson Enterprise (ERx) to manage prescriptions and patient records
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and pharmacy best practices
• Provide expert clinical counseling tailored to the unique needs of patients with rare diseases

Qualifications:

• Active pharmacist license in Arizona, clear and in good standing
• Proven experience in a designated specialty pharmacy setting (retail experience alone is not sufficient)
• Strong background in managing specialty drugs, particularly for rare and orphan diseases
• Excellent clinical knowledge and advanced communication skills for high-touch patient interactions
• Experience with specialty pharmacy software (McKesson Enterprise/ERx) preferred
• Ability to work effectively within a team and handle complex case management

Contract Details:

• Contract duration: 13 weeks, with the possibility of contract-to-hire
• Immediate start available

• One professional reference from a specialty pharmacy environment
• Copy of current Arizona pharmacist license
