Per Diem Pharmacist - Kenner, LA

A healthcare facility in New Orleans is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated pharmacist to provide per diem coverage. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to patient care in a surgical hospital environment, specializing in reconstructive, plastic, and orthopedic surgeries.

Location: New Orleans, LA
Job Type: Per Diem
Schedule & Hours:

• Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
• On-call Monday – Thursday after pharmacy hours (2:30 PM – 6:00 AM)
• No weekend coverage required

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Active Louisiana Pharmacist license required
• Previous inpatient pharmacy experience highly preferred
• Experience with IV preparation and sterile compounding (immediate use only)
• Familiarity with Thrive order entry system and Pyxis automation preferred; training available before June 22nd with the Director
• Ability to work independently; no tech support on site
• Local candidates are highly preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform order entry ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Prepare and dispense intravenous medications safely
• Perform sterile compounding for immediate use only
• Replenish and maintain Pyxis automated dispensing systems
• Provide on-call support during after-hours weekdays to address pharmacy needs

Work Environment & Dress Code:

• Surgical hospital setting specializing in reconstructive/plastic and orthopedic surgeries
• Professional attire required: black scrubs
