Provide expert pharmaceutical care in a dynamic hospital environment specializing in reconstructive, plastic, and orthopedic surgeries. This per diem opportunity offers an engaging role with a reputable surgical hospital in the New Orleans area, ideal for licensed pharmacists with inpatient and IV experience.

Location:

  • New Orleans, LA 70130

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • On-call Monday through Thursday evenings (2:30 PM – 6:00 AM)
  • No weekend coverage required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform accurate order entry using Thrive (training provided prior to start)
  • Prepare and dispense intravenous medications and handle sterile compounding for immediate use
  • Replenish Pyxis automation system (training provided)
  • Manage pharmacy operations independently without technician support
  • Collaborate effectively with the surgical team to ensure safe medication use

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Louisiana Pharmacist license required
  • Proven inpatient pharmacy experience, including IV preparation and sterile compounding
  • Familiarity with Thrive order entry and Pyxis automation is preferred; full training available before assignment start
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
  • Local candidates preferred to facilitate training and on-call responsiveness

Work Environment and Dress Code:

  • Black scrubs to be worn during shifts
  • Supportive and specialized hospital setting focused on surgical patient care

This per diem role spans from June 22nd through July 8th and requires training with the director before coverage begins. The position offers a well-defined schedule without weekend demands and the opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient outcomes in a surgical hospital setting.
