This per diem position seeks an experienced Staff Pharmacist to provide as-needed support at a healthcare facility specializing in behavioral health. The role requires collaboration with nursing staff and providers to ensure safe and effective medication use in an inpatient hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify medication orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with protocols
  • Utilize Omnicell automation systems for efficient medication dispensing and inventory management
  • Support antimicrobial stewardship efforts to promote appropriate antibiotic use
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Pharmacy and pharmacy team to address patient needs
  • Assist with product verification and oversee pharmacy operations during shifts
  • Provide tech support activities including medication filling, repackaging, and distribution as needed

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid North Carolina pharmacist license
  • Prior inpatient hospital experience required
  • Familiarity with Omnicell or Pyxis automation systems preferred
  • Behavioral health pharmacy experience is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Schedule and Training:

  • Initial training beginning early May, with five days of training scheduled May 5-8 and May 11-15 from 7:30am to 4:30pm
  • Coverage shifts include May 16-17 and May 30-31 from 7:30am to 2:30pm
  • Ongoing coverage hours are typically 7:30am to 4:30pm on weekdays and 7:30am to 2:30pm on weekends, with additional dates to be determined
  • Order entry system used is HCS; training will be provided, no prior experience required

Dress Code:

  • Black or sage green scrubs or business casual attire
