Staff Pharmacist | Long Beach, California

An interim inpatient pharmacy technician role is open in the Long Beach, CA area, offering an opportunity for a skilled tech with local availability. This position supports a licensed 117-bed hospital with an average daily census of 44 patients. The initial commitment is full-time for approximately four weeks, followed by a potential shift to a PRN schedule, providing flexibility for those seeking ongoing, part-time work after the initial period.

Location: Long Beach, CA

Schedule/Hours:

• Full-time for the first four weeks: 40 hours/week
• Shift rotation with other technicians, varying by availability
• Shift times:
  • 07:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM
  • Saturdays and Sundays: 08:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform intravenous (IV) compounding following established protocols
• Fill and manage Pyxis automated medication dispensing systems efficiently
• Support medication order entry utilizing Paragon/Allscripts systems
• Collaborate with the pharmacy team to ensure timely and accurate medication distribution within the inpatient setting
• Maintain compliance with state regulations and hospital policies

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid California pharmacy technician license is required
• Proficient in IV compounding techniques
• Experience with Pyxis automation systems
• Knowledge of order entry systems, preferably Paragon or Allscripts
• Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
