This per diem pharmacist opportunity focuses on specialty retail pharmacy services for complex patients managing multiple medications daily. The role requires strong communication and patient consultation skills, combined with in-depth knowledge of commonly prescribed drugs. Candidates will work with a population primarily consisting of Medicare/Medicaid and low-income patients, many of whom have low literacy, underscoring the need for patience and empathy.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert pharmaceutical care and consultation to patients managing 8-15 medications daily for complex, chronic disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.
  • Utilize strong disease state management skills to ensure safe and effective medication use.
  • Use Pioneer Rx software for prescription processing and patient documentation.
  • Deliver compassionate counseling tailored to patients’ literacy and comprehension levels.
  • Maintain high standards for patient care, focusing on quality over volume.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Licensed pharmacist with strong retail and/or specialty pharmacy experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of top 200-400 retail medications.
  • Demonstrated skills in disease state management and patient consultation.
  • Ability to communicate complex medication information clearly and patiently to diverse patient populations.
  • Specialty retail or specialty pharmacy experience is highly preferred.

Location: Lorain, OH
