Pharmacist Opportunity – Los Angeles County Department of Health System

A well-established health system is seeking skilled and dedicated pharmacists for contract roles within their hospital and outpatient clinics. This opportunity focuses on candidates who have recently completed a PGY-1 residency or possess at least some hospital experience, including interns with applicable exposure. Candidates without PGY-1 residency but with relevant hospital experience will also be considered.

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Job Type: Long-term contract with a pathway to permanent placement

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shifts
  • Flexible availability for all shifts, primarily 1st and 2nd shifts; occasional 3rd shifts may be required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care in an inpatient/outpatient health system setting
  • Collaborate directly with healthcare teams to optimize medication therapy
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare for and pass a competency exam to demonstrate pharmacy proficiency
  • Complete background verification and onboarding processes within 4-6 weeks before starting work

Desired Qualifications:

  • PGY-1 residency graduates preferred, or
  • Candidates with approximately two years of recent inpatient experience
  • Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills in hospital pharmacy
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to dynamic scheduling needs
  • Successful completion of competency testing is required for continuation
