A hospital-owned retail pharmacy in Marlinton, WV, is seeking a licensed pharmacist to provide expert coverage for a 12-week medical leave assignment starting September 8. This role is integral to maintaining smooth pharmacy operations while delivering quality care in a community-focused setting that includes a gift shop and coffee shop, enhancing the patient and visitor experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct pharmacy technicians and staff pharmacists to ensure efficient workflow
  • Verify and dispense medications safely and accurately to meet patient needs
  • Manage inventory, medication stock, and formulary to maintain optimal supply levels
  • Ensure compliance with controlled substance handling and regulatory documentation
  • Oversee administration and compliance of the 340B drug pricing program
  • Handle pharmacy billing, claims submission, and financial reconciliation processes
  • Utilize EHR and pharmacy software (Pioneer RX; training provided) to maintain accurate records
  • Support continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness
  • Administer immunizations as part of patient care services

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active and clear West Virginia pharmacist license
  • Experience with Pioneer RX software preferred
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy; PharmD preferred but not mandatory
  • Current CPR and immunization certifications
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills essential

Schedule:

  • Approximately 20 hours per week
  • Preferred days: Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Shift: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM (10-hour shift with 30-minute lunch break)

This contract role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a busy, community-oriented hospital pharmacy with approximately 4,000 prescriptions filled monthly. Flexible scheduling options may be available to accommodate candidate needs.
