Responsibilities include:
- Providing proactive patient counseling via phone, addressing questions about new prescriptions, refills, side effects, adherence, and correct medication use
- Collaborating with prescribers and their offices to clarify prescriptions and resolve clinical issues that could delay dispensing
- Reviewing and clinically verifying prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness, drug interactions, contraindications, and dosage accuracy
- Performing pharmacist verification of filled prescriptions in a high-volume closed-door environment, ensuring accuracy of drug, dose, quantity, and labeling before dispensing
- Assisting pharmacy management in receiving, processing, and transferring prescriptions, managing the transfer process to ensure successful completion
Qualifications:
- Current and active pharmacist license in Pennsylvania is required
- 0-6 years of experience as a pharmacist, preferably in retail, mail order, or specialty pharmacy settings; new graduates are welcome to apply
