This opportunity is for an experienced pharmacist to provide expert care in a specialty retail pharmacy setting focused on managing complex medication regimens for patients with chronic and advanced disease states. The role requires a pharmacist with strong communication skills, patience, and detailed knowledge of commonly prescribed medications to support a patient population that often faces healthcare challenges.

Schedule (Per Diem Availability):

  • Tuesday 2/3, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Thursday 2/5, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Tuesday 2/10, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Thursday 2/12, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Friday 2/13, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert consultation on medication management for patients taking complex regimens of 8-15 drugs daily.
  • Deliver compassionate, clear communication tailored for patients with low literacy and varied socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Utilize disease state management expertise to guide patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
  • Use Pioneer Rx software effectively to manage prescriptions and patient records.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong retail or specialty pharmacy experience, preferably within specialty pharmacy environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and consult on chronic and advanced disease states.
  • Excellent patient consultation and communication skills with a compassionate approach to care.
  • Knowledge of the top 200-400 retail medications and their complexities.
  • Experience working with Medicare/Medicaid and low-income patient populations.
