Retail Staff Pharmacist - Mesa, AZ

A specialty pharmacy focused on rare and orphan drugs is seeking two experienced Specialty Pharmacists to join their team on a contract basis. This unique opportunity involves working with high-cost, complex therapies designed for patients with rare diseases. Expertise in specialty pharmacy operations and patient/provider support is essential.

Location: Mesa, AZ
Type: Contract (13 weeks) with possible direct hire opportunity
Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime shift
Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage dispensing of rare and orphan drugs in a specialty pharmacy setting
• Support patients and healthcare providers in navigating drug approval processes, including insurance authorizations, grants, rebates, and payment assistance programs
• Provide clinical guidance and maintain high-touch communication with patients and providers to ensure optimal therapy outcomes
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate patient access to prescribed therapies

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Prior work experience specifically within a specialty pharmacy; retail pharmacy experience alone will not be considered
• Strong knowledge of specialty drug therapies and the complexities involved in rare disease treatment
• Excellent clinical judgment combined with outstanding communication and patient advocacy skills
• Ability to handle high-cost medications and work with financial assistance programs
