This opportunity seeks a skilled Staff Pharmacist with strong EPIC experience for a contract assignment starting mid-March. The position involves a critical role during a hospital’s electronic medical record conversion from Meditech to EPIC, providing an exciting chance to apply and expand specialized pharmacy expertise.
Location:
- New Castle, Colorado
Schedule:
- Rotating day/evening shifts, 40 hours per week
- Monday–Friday starts at 6:30 AM or 8:00 AM
- Rotating weekends 7:00 AM–12:00 PM
Duration:
- Approximately 20 weeks, expected through mid-August with flexibility to accommodate start date
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense medication orders in compliance with physician requests and hospital protocols
- Maintain medication stock in patient care areas
- Monitor drug therapies for safety, effectiveness, and cost efficiency
- Perform accurate transcriptions and manage patient medication profiles electronically
- Compound pharmaceuticals including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including controlled substances handling
- Conduct pharmacokinetic dosing and review culture and sensitivity data for antibiotic appropriateness
- Provide clinical consultation, drug information, and education to medical staff, patients, and families
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and medication safety reviews
- Engage as a member of the Code Response Team
Qualifications:
- Active Colorado Pharmacist (PHA) License in good standing
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy with at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy
- BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions accepted, per hospital policy)
- Must possess EPIC system experience; Meditech training is an advantage
