An opportunity is available for a Staff Pharmacist to support a healthcare facility during its EMR transition. This contract position requires expertise in both Meditech and Epic systems, as the assignment will involve facilitating the switch from Meditech to Epic. The role is based in New Castle, CO, with a rotating shift schedule designed for a full 40-hour workweek.
Schedule:
- Rotating shifts (day/evening)
- Start times: 6:30 AM or 8:00 AM, Monday through Friday
- Rotating weekends from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense medication orders accurately per physician requests.
- Maintain medication stock in designated patient care areas.
- Ensure medication therapies are safe, effective, and cost-conscious following established protocols and regulations.
- Interpret and maintain computerized patient medication profiles.
- Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition.
- Monitor drug therapy for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and dosing concerns.
- Perform pharmacokinetic drug dosing in line with hospital protocols.
- Review culture and sensitivity data to guide antibiotic use.
- Provide clinical consultation and therapeutic alternatives to medical staff.
- Document all clinical activities thoroughly.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and medication review processes.
- Serve as a member of the Code Response Team.
Qualifications:
- Active Colorado Pharmacist License in good standing
- Graduate from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy
- BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Must have flu vaccination (mandatory from October 1 to April 1, no exemptions)
- Previous experience with Epic electronic medical records is required; Meditech experience is highly desirable
This contract assignment begins ASAP with an anticipated end date around August 15, 2026, though length may adjust based on start date.
