This opportunity offers a challenging pharmacy role within a hospital setting, supporting a major EMR transition from Meditech to Epic. The assignment requires a licensed pharmacist with strong clinical skills and experience in acute care pharmacy practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, compound, and dispense medication orders accurately, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition.
- Maintain medication stock and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, especially regarding controlled substances.
- Interpret medication orders and patient chart information to monitor therapy regimens, drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions.
- Provide clinical consultation to medical staff, suggesting cost-effective and therapeutic alternatives.
- Participate in quality improvement, orientation, education, and medication review activities.
- Serve as a member of the Code Response Team during the assignment.
Qualifications:
- Active pharmacy license in Colorado, in good standing.
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy degree.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association).
- Must have prior experience using Epic; Meditech experience is a plus, as the facility is transitioning EMR systems.
- Flu vaccination is mandatory (no exemptions) for the flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 1).
Schedule:
- Rotating shifts working 40 hours per week.
- Shift start times at 6:30 AM or 8:00 AM Monday through Friday.
- Rotating weekends with 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM shifts.
Location: New Castle, Colorado
Contract Duration: Immediate start through mid-August (assignment projected to end around 8/15/26, flexible start date accommodation)
