A healthcare facility in New Castle, CO, requires an experienced pharmacist for a travel assignment starting May 5. This 20-week role supports the facility’s critical transition as it converts its electronic medical records system from Meditech to Epic. Candidates must have active Colorado pharmacist licensure and robust experience with Epic software; Meditech training is advantageous.

Schedule and Assignment Details:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Rotating day/evening shifts beginning at 6:30 AM or 8:00 AM, Monday through Friday
  • Rotating weekend shifts from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and dispense medications per physician orders while maintaining medication inventory
  • Interpret and accurately transcribe medication orders into computerized patient profiles
  • Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition
  • Monitor drug therapies for interactions, allergies, dosing appropriateness, and adverse reactions
  • Perform pharmacokinetic dosing and review cultures and sensitivity data to guide antibiotic use
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations regarding controlled substances
  • Provide clinical consultation, drug information, and education to patients, medical staff, and other healthcare personnel
  • Maintain documentation of clinical activities and participate in quality improvement efforts
  • Contribute to orientation, education, and training programs and serve on the Code Response Team

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Active Colorado Pharmacist License in good standing
  • Graduate from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy degree
  • Certification in BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • Influenza vaccination is required (no exemptions) for the October 1 to April 1 period
  • Strong knowledge of Epic with preference for those also trained on Meditech
