Per Diem Staff Pharmacist in New Orleans, LA

This position offers the opportunity to support a specialty retail pharmacy serving complex patients who manage multiple medications daily, typically between 8 to 15. The focus is on providing comprehensive medication management and personalized consultations within a compassionate, patient-centered care environment.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver expert consultation and medication therapy management for patients with chronic and advanced disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, MS, and others
• Communicate effectively and patiently with a Medicare/Medicaid patient base, many of whom have low literacy levels and low income
• Utilize strong knowledge of the top 200-400 medications commonly dispensed in retail pharmacy settings
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes through thorough disease state management
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and standards

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Proven experience working in retail and/or specialty pharmacy settings, ideally with a focus on specialty medications
• Strong consultation skills and ability to patiently engage with complex patient populations
• Demonstrated expertise in managing and counseling patients with chronic health conditions
• Ability to work compassionately with diverse populations, including those with low health literacy
• Specialty pharmacy experience is highly preferred
