Retail Staff Pharmacist - New York, NY

A specialty pharmacy is seeking two experienced pharmacists to support patients with rare and orphan diseases through expert medication management and patient care. This contract opportunity offers a chance to work in a high-touch environment collaborating closely with both providers and patients, focusing on navigating the complexities of specialty drug approvals, payment assistance, grants, and rebates.

Location: Bronx, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, daytime hours
Job Type: Contract (13 weeks) with potential for contract-to-hire or direct hire

Key Responsibilities:

• Dispense and manage rare/orphan specialty medications
• Provide expert guidance to patients and healthcare providers regarding medication approval processes and financial assistance programs
• Utilize clinical knowledge to ensure safe and effective drug therapy
• Document and communicate clearly with all stakeholders involved in patient care
• Use McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system for specialty pharmacy operations

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Active, clear, and good-standing Arizona pharmacist license
• Proven specialty pharmacy experience (retail specialty and/or specialty mail order preferred)—experience in pure retail pharmacies without specialty pharmacy focus will not be considered
• Strong clinical knowledge paired with excellent communication skills to support patient and provider interactions
• Familiarity with managing rare and high-cost drugs, including authorization and reimbursement processes
• Ability to provide at least one specialty pharmacy reference
