A community hospital in Barstow, CA, is seeking a skilled pharmacist to fill a 13-week contract position. This 60-bed facility serves a desert community situated halfway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, offering a unique and rewarding practice environment. The pharmacist will work primarily day shifts on a 4x10 schedule, allowing for extended weekends and focused patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and timely pharmaceutical services within a hospital setting
- Collaborate closely with healthcare teams to optimize medication therapy for patients
- Utilize MedHost EMR for order management and documentation
- Monitor clinical surveillance alerts through Sentri 7 software
- Manage medication dispensing using Pyxis ADC systems
- Participate minimally in on-call duties, supported by a remote service after hours
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active California Pharmacist License
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of computerized medication dispensing and clinical surveillance tools
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced hospital environment and prioritize patient safety
Schedule:
- 4 days per week, 10-hour day shifts
- Minimal on-call responsibilities with remote support available
