A pediatric acute care pharmacist opportunity is available at a 336-bed hospital specializing in pediatric level 1 trauma care. This role offers a valuable chance for pharmacists to develop expertise in a highly specialized setting that serves children with critical health needs.

Location: North Little Rock, AR
Type: Direct Hire (Temp or Permanent available; Director of Pharmacy prefers permanent placement)
Schedule:

  • 7 days on / 7 days off rotation
  • Thursday through Saturday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Sunday through Wednesday, 8:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify medication orders for appropriateness based on pediatric patient factors like diagnosis, weight, age, and body surface area
  • Identify and intervene in drug therapy issues such as allergies, interactions, duplications, and adverse reactions
  • Initiate and suggest cost-effective, appropriate drug therapies including non-formulary evaluations
  • Ensure accurate dispensing including dose, route, regimen, and generic substitutions with quality labeling
  • Process medication orders efficiently, prioritize workload, and provide professional support in patient care areas
  • Monitor patients for therapeutic outcomes and provide recommendations to care teams
  • Participate in education and training of healthcare staff, students, and patients
  • Conduct drug information services and drug utilization reviews
  • Manage medication procurement and inventory coordination, ensuring availability and timely purchase orders

Desired Qualifications:

  • Licensed Pharmacist in Arkansas or willing to obtain licensure
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) preferred
  • Inpatient pharmacy experience preferred
  • Willingness to work night shifts
