An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled inpatient pharmacist to support patient care in a dynamic hospital setting. This 13-week contract position begins shortly after Labor Day and offers the chance to work rotating shifts, providing critical pharmacy services in a fast-paced environment.
Location: Portsmouth, VA
Schedule/Hours:
- Day shifts: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- Evening shifts: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- Overnight shifts: 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM, 8:30 PM – 7:30 AM
- Rotating shift schedule
Responsibilities:
- Verify and enter medication orders in EPIC EMR with precision and accuracy
- Manage inpatient pharmacy operations including IV preparations, pain control analgesia, and antibiotic management
- Monitor drug interactions, dosage adjustments including renal and pharmacokinetic dosing
- Support anticoagulant and chemotherapy medication protocols when applicable
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize medication therapy for hospitalized patients
Qualifications and Experience:
- VA pharmacist license required at the time of application (firm requirement)
- Minimum of 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience is mandatory
- Proficient in EPIC EMR charting and pharmacy systems
- Strong knowledge of IV medications, pain management, antibiotics, and drug interactions
- Experience with chemotherapy and anticoagulants preferred
- Travel experience is an advantage
