Staff Pharmacist - Racine, Wisconsin

A healthcare facility in Racine, WI is seeking a dedicated Staff Pharmacist for a contract position beginning 8/17, lasting approximately 9 weeks. This role works the 2nd shift, 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with rotating weekends.

Responsibilities include:

• Accepting and dispensing prescription medications accurately and efficiently
• Monitoring patient medication compliance and identifying over-usage patterns
• Ensuring medication supplies comply with legal regulations
• Verifying the appropriateness of prescribed medicines for patients
• Maintaining confidential patient records and managing pharmacy files properly
• Advising patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answering related questions
• Providing consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including dosage, storage, and drug interactions
• Offering services like smoking cessation, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management
• Educating patients on handling medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
• Compounding medications for internal and external use and preparing sterile solutions following protocols
• Supervising pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks
• Managing inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies
• Identifying drug-related problems in patients and communicating effectively with physicians and healthcare practitioners
• Collaborating with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns to provide comprehensive patient care

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Wisconsin pharmacist license in hand
• Retail pharmacy experience welcomed; training will be provided for qualified candidates
