Provide expert medication management as a Staff Pharmacist supporting patient care within a hospital setting. This contract role involves critical evaluation of medication orders, ensuring safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals aligned with patients’ clinical needs. Engage directly with healthcare teams to support optimal therapeutic outcomes and play a key role in medication safety and inventory control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness of drug, dose, frequency, route, and patient-specific factors such as allergies and lab results
- Dispense medications ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Monitor for potential drug interactions and clinical conflicts prior to medication administration
- Oversee pharmacy students and technicians during medication preparation to maintain accuracy and safety
- Collaborate with healthcare providers in discharge planning and continuum of care
- Manage inventory control to ensure availability and proper storage of pharmaceuticals
- Provide drug information and consultation to healthcare team members as needed
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy required; PharmD preferred
- Valid Pharmacist License in PA required
- Minimum 1 year hospital experience, or completion of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) clinical rotations preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
Schedule & Location:
- 5x8-hour shifts, daytime schedule
- Located in Reading, PA
- Contract assignment from May 4 through August 1
